Estimator / Quantity Surveyor with Contractual Knowledge or experience
Estimating side of Role
Role / Responsibilities
Production of accurate prime cost for the project,
Preparation & co-ordination of the full tender process,
Identify areas of risk and opportunity,
Preparation of detailed quotations and presentation documents,
Enhancing and maintaining good business relationship with internal and external parties,
Develop knowledge of market place and competitors,
Coordination with the different departments towards reaching daily objectives,
Reporting to the Commercial Manager,
Liaising with staff and clients at all levels,

Requirements, abilities:

Have experience of estimating and general manufacturing processes in structural steel,
Have a relevant engineering qualification, ability to read technical drawings,
Have a good understanding of steelworks and engineering principals,
Have a good understanding and experience of contracts, with the ability to flag up risks and responsibilities,
Education to degree level or equivalent (or a high level of experience),
Being able to construct meaningful and concise proposals,
Strong communication skills,
Have a good attention to detail,
Experience of AutoCAD, Strumis – not essential as training will be provided,
MS Office skills, competence in the use of word processing and spreadsheets to a standard appropriate for drafting reports,
A level of numeracy commensurate with data analysis,
Substantial experience in industry analysis and the commercial interpretation of data,
Be able to communicate in a clear and precise manner,
Having the drive to succeed at all times,

Requirements, abilities for the QS side of role:

Reporting Monthly Cost and Value reconciliation,
Forecasting and cost to complete Valuations and applications for payment,
Value maximization,
Correspondences & Contract administration,
Contractual support to non-commercial staff,
Identification and securing of additional works,
Identification and minimising of risk,
Cost control and reduction,
Claims and revaluation,
Final account management Subcontracts Procurement,
Document drafting,
Management and performance,
Payments & Finalisation of Tenders,
Subcontract quotes and feedback,
Support the rest of the Surveying and Contracts Dept,
This role involves a proven track record related to the industry in general. To be strongly customer focused with ability to deal with people at all levels. To be highly knowledgeable in structural and architectural steelwork
The role requires Preferably HND/Degree qualified with RICS or Inst CES qualifications but not essential if experienced. Strong Knowledge and experience in structural steel essential. Experience with Subcontracts and knowledge of contract law preferred
