We are looking to appoint an experienced Materials Buyer for our Engineering client based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Responsibilities will include:

Role Overview

* To carry out Iron and Steel procurement activities on a day-to-day basis, sourcing from UK and overseas suppliers
* To negotiate cost and lead time reductions with suppliers
* To provide professional procurement support to the supply chain management of the Department
* Responsible for Quality, Cost and Delivery (QCD) for allocated supplier
* To help develop and implement continuous improvement activities

Up to £22,000pa

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL

* ONC Business Studies/ Certificate in Purchasing & Supply
* Commercial apprenticeship/Training Scheme
* Demonstrate purchasing/expediting experience in a technical /engineering environment
* Achievement of KPI’s and other targets and objectives

DESIRABLE

* ONC/HNC in business Studies
* Apprentice Trained in engineering Environment
* Member of Professional Institute – Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply
* Formal training in procurement, purchasing expediting
* Post Graduate Degree / MBA
* Purchasing and expediting experience
* Manufacturing / Engineering production and or design experience.
* Demonstrates delivery of achievements across a wide range of criteria including continuous improvement initiatives
