This organisation is an established International Engineering Group. Through its highly experienced leadership and operations teams enjoys a proven track record of delivering complex steel projects to the Power, Mining and Petrochemical industries throughout South Africa, Africa and beyond.

Due to recent expansion in their Power Station Business unit discipline, several new opportunities have arisen for Senior StruCAD Structural Detailers. The roles will report directly into the Engineering Manager, be based in Johannesburg and initially be on a fixed term 12-month contract which is likely to be extended.

The work will include both revisions and new drawings. Suitable applicants will have at least 10 years relevant StruCAD experience in drawing and design and ideally manufacturing experience in a Structural Steel environment in addition to:

- 10 to 15 years experience using StruCAD is essential.
- Engineering project experience preferred.
- Preferably served a detailing apprenticeship at a Structural Steel Fabricator.
- Ideally some drafting qualifications.
- Be computer literate in the use of either one of the following packages; AutoCAD
for 2D detailing but preferably 3D modelling packages such as X-Steel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare detail drawings
- Drawing production on computer systems
- Technical queries/clarification of issues
- Issuing/control of drawings
- Health, Safety and Environment

Suitable candidates will be paid in South African RAND. The total package pays to R800, 000 per annum, plus return flights and 34 days leave (including public holidays). In addition accommodation and car will be provided for first month.

The successful applicant will be joining an established team of draughtsperson's, working on all aspects architectural metalwork.  Using Tekla (preferable) or Autocad, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects with responsibilities encompassing
 
· Designing Ballustrades, Canopies, Staircases, glazed screens, Sheet Metalwork etc
· Raising Technical queries
· Playing an active role in new design projects
 
Suitable candidates will have a minimum of 8 years previous design experience in an Architectural Metalwork environment, and be fluent in Tekla or AutoCAD.  Crucially candidates must be well versed in detailing steel to non-steel connections (Steel to Glass/ wood etc)

You must be StruCAD proficient, with experience of detailing Structural Steelwork. Alternativeley knowledge of BoCAd or Exsteel would be considered.

Structural Design Draughtsman (AutoCAD 3D)

Due to winning several major orders with high profile clients around the UK, this renowned provider of engineering services is experiencing a substantial increase in work which looks set to continue over the next few months. With these projects already well underway, the company are lacking the skilled expertise required to complete all work. As a result there is an immediate need for a contract structural design draughtsman with 3D AutoCAD experience.

The role will involve:
• Working on a feasibility project for installing a large piece of equipment into a facility.
• Providing support to the engineering team.
• Looking at the project from both a construction and engineering point of view.
• Thinking about how the steel structures fit together (beam to beam).
• Detailing structural steelwork and potentially some duct work (1m diameter).
• Use of AutoCAD 2D and 3D.

The successful applicant must possess the following key skills and abilities. My client will not consider applicants without all the following:
• Proficient in the use of 3D AutoCAD. Without 3D AutoCAD you will not be considered.
• Strong engineering knowledge of structural steelwork and how beams fit together.
• Good problem solving skills and able to work as part of a team.

The client will offer the successful applicant the following:
• Between £18 - £20 p/h Ltd.
• An initial 4 week contract with potential opportunities for extensions and further contracts.

The applicant needs to have substantial knowledge of the industry, be able to work with a bespoke detailing package ?Strucad?. The applicant needs to be fully conversant with this.
